Jallerange Castle

The château’s French garden is considered “the most exact and charming in Franche-Comté”. Everything is accuracy, charm and peace in this garden designed in 1771 at the initiative of Claude-Nicolas Marcellin Seguin de Jallerange, Advisor to the Parliament of Franche-Comté. Glacis, basin, amphitheater, virtuegadin, hornbeam cradles, cool rooms, green cabinet, statues… contribute, in a subtle effect of accelerated perspectives, to its composition. It has retained all its original authenticity, having always been carefully maintained by the descendants of its creator.

An English park, created in 1845 by Amédée Seguin de Jallerange, with its winding paths and small groves, overlooks the vegetable garden and completes this exceptional ensemble. It houses a refreshing cooler under its foliage. On this estate of more than five hectares surrounded by a dry stone wall, two imposing 18th century presses and superb vaulted cellars bear witness to its wine-growing past. Jallerange has been a site classified since 1943 as sites and landscapes. Listed ISMH in 1973, the entire estate has been classified MH since 2015 in recognition of its authenticity.
