Pin Castle

Located on the hillside, the village of Pin dominates the Ognon valley, which led to the installation of a fortified castle early on. At the end of the 17th century Philippe-Eugène Chifflet bought the lordship of Pin from the Chatelet family. It was for the benefit of his grandson Christophe-Ignace de Chaillot that the lands of Pin were made a marquisate in 1746. It was he who had the 18th century building built. The buildings and the park of the Château de Pin have been listed since 1967, the interior of the 18th century building since 1994. You enter the main courtyard through a classic monumental door with a wrought iron gate (18th century). On the left, the old main building, late 15th-early 16th century, opens with a braced door giving access to a stone staircase. In the two lower rooms there are two large stone fireplaces with projecting mantles supported by fine columns. The 18th century castle is a robust, one-story, long construction, covered with a very high four-sided roof. The sobriety of the whole is broken by a curved projection on the entrance facade, a simple conical volume avoiding the dome which gives the facade this particular character.
