Oricourt Castle
The best preserved castle in Franche-Comté. Built around the middle of the 12th century on the edge of a plateau, facing the Lure plain, Oricourt is a fortified castle with a double wall, lower courtyard and upper courtyard. Two square towers 25m high dominate the curtain walls and deep ditches. Outside, on the village side, an imposing dovecote has been erected. In this rare medieval ensemble, you will discover stables, wells, cistern, bakery, cellars, large kitchen, chapel and other rooms. Gaucher, constable of the County of Burgundy, was lord of Oricourt around 1170. At the end of the Middle Ages, the chancellor of Burgundy Nicolas Rolin, immortalized by the painter van Eyck and founder of the Hospices de Beaune, was the owner. An educational place and original architecture to discover! Welcomed by the owners, you will be able to appreciate this monument, accompanied by an approved tour guide for a visit of approximately 1 1/2 hours.
