Fondremand Castle
In the heart of a beautiful village, which has preserved its houses from the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries and the 13th century church, the castle is made up of several buildings.
The keep, from the 14th century according to a recent archaeological study, dominates the Romaine spring. Quadrangular, it is separated in two from bottom to top by a dividing wall. On the ground floor, two barrel-vaulted rooms and their replicas on the first floor, overlooking the interior courtyard. One of the rooms on the first floor has retained all its original openings: three loopholes or arches and a latrine. On the third floor, traces of two other levels are clearly visible. Under an impressive framework, this level houses a museum of objects of daily, artisanal and agricultural life over a century, from 1850 to 1950. On the courtyard side, the keep is flanked by a 15th-16th century turret with a spiral staircase . The 15th-16th century building includes a vaulted kitchen with ribbed ribs, with a monumental fireplace, and a small oratory vaulted with ribbed ribs. The stables, from the second part of the 19th century, have five very well preserved stalls and two boxes.
