Dammartin Castle
The castle of Dammartin (or Froissard), listed as MH since 2011, was built in the 16th century by the Mairot de Mutigney, a family of parliamentarians in the Parliament of Franche-Comté. It was profoundly transformed in the middle of the 18th century by the prior of Mutigney, canon at the chapter of Besançon and archdeacon of Faverney, poet and numismatist. Following a resounding trial, it fell to his brother Captain de Mutigney, then to his daughter, Félicité, who brought it to Froissard de Broissia through her marriage in 1771 to Hilaire-Flavien Marquis de Broissia. The castle of Dammartin was kept until 1918 in this same family. The rectangular house, centered by a triangular pediment and a large horseshoe staircase, has a tower at the south corner and the row of lounges opens to the south-east through large windows onto the park. A hornbeam path connects the dwelling and the outbuildings while another borders the park to the southwest. This typical example of a pleasure house of the Franche-Comté parliamentary aristocracy has retained almost all of its interior architecture from the mid-18th century.
